About Us

Sue and Greg Smith have recently moved from Fredericksburg, Virginia and now live in Carthage, Arkansas. Their passion is to walk alongside Latino and non-Latino immigrants in their quest for dignity, sustainability and full integration into the communities where they live.
The Smiths currently serve as field personnel with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and as Area Coordinators for Mission Teams for two US-based field teams, the Internationals North America and the Rural/Urban Team. They plan to retire from CBF in June 2025.
As field personnel, Greg and Sue have worked with LUCHA Ministries, Inc., a faith-based non-profit agency they founded in 2004 with partners Heather and Victor Gomez to serve the first-generation Latino immigrant community in the greater Fredericksburg area. Prior to their move to Arkansas in October 2024, Sue served as LUCHA's bilingual social worker and pastoral care counselor, and Greg was the program director with LUCHA Ministries’ Immigration Legal Services.
As Area Coordinators, the Smiths continue to oversee and work alongside 13 career Field Personnel and 3 Global Service Corp volunteers in Kentucky, California, Texas, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, and Haiti whose ministries focus on community development and on international populations living and working in the United States..

From 1987 to 1999, the Smiths were career missionaries in Costa Rica with the Foreign/International Mission Board, SBC, where they lived and served in Limón and San Jose, Costa Rica in theological education, volunteer missions and mission administration.
